The new area of International Drive in Orlando is beginning to swing into high gear. The first phase of the construtcion will be the Orlando Eye, the massive observation wheel that will provide an excellent view of the International Drive area, should begin vertical construction soon. Construction is scheduled to be complete on the Orlando Eye some time in 2014.
A Madame Tussauds, which is a wax mueseum, and Sea Life aquarium are also part of the expansion plans. All of this will be built on the grounds of the former Mercado shopping center.
The first area to open will be a Kings Bowl America. It will feature 22 lanes, billiards, a restaurant and more. It will be opening within weeks. This area is all part of the neighboring $50 million remodeling of the old Wyndam Hotel on International Drive. The site will feature 600 Guest rooms and room for other retail and shopping stores.
