With the opening date of May 1 coming soon for California’s Great America, things are kicking into high gear to get their latest scream machine Gold Striker ready for the crowds.  Great America was kind enough to share a test run POV of their new coaster.  The coaster will feature one of my favorite type of wooden coaster trains, Millennium Flyers and will reach a top speed of 54 mph and a top height of 108 feet.

Great America is also holding an auction for the first riders aboard Gold Striker.  They teamed up with the San Francisco 49ers and all proceeds will be donated to the 49ers foundation.  The auction ends on April 28, so if you want to be one of the first to ride Gold Striker, head on over to the official auction site and get your bidding on!  Winners also get a t-shirt, and a catered reception.
