Disney taking its MyMagic+ wristband technology to new levels

Disney’s latest technology to keep your credit card information, room key, Fastpass and other information on will be only the beginning for what some are calling “controversial” wristbands.  Disney is planning on introducing elements into its attractions and rides that will recognize your bracelet when you board a specific ride and will interact with you, such as your birthday or other special occasions.

The wristbands will also be used with meet and greet characters.  Imagine walking up to Mickey Mouse and he talks to you, but not just pre-recorded audio bits, Mickey will call you by whatever name you have stored on your wristband.  Guests would have to “opt in” to this feature in order for Disney to access their name.

Tom Staggs, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, also hinted at the fact that the wristbands could also be used while viewing a Disney movie or video games, but no further details were given.
