We all know of the classic wooden coaster at Coney Island, the Thunderbolt.  The classic wooden coaster closed back in 1982, but was left standing until 2000 when it was deemed a safety hazard and demolished.  Well the folks at Luna Park are bringing the classic name back to a new and improved Thunderbolt coaster.

The new Thunderbolt will be a steel coaster from Zamperla will feature a vertical lift hill and a vertical first drop.  The ride will feature a out and back design that will feature inversions on the way out, but when returning back to the station will feature airtime hills.

POV footage of the original Thunderbolt can be found by clicking here.
