Construction continues on the “I-Drive Live” entertainment, dining and shopping area and is scheduled to be open late next year.  Here are some of the current happenings from what is going on with the construction:

  • The Sea Life Aquarium building is up and standing.
  • Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum is up and standing.
  • Footers for the Orlando Eye Ferris wheel were poured in last week.
  • As of Tuesday, components for Orlando Eye are being made in Switzerland.

The goal is to have the ferris wheel, aquarium and wax museum open on New Years Eve 2013.  Once the ferris wheel is constructed, it will be the tallest structure in Orlando, standing at 425 feet tall.  The ferris wheel will feature 30 gondolas that sit 15 people each and will take approximately 20 minutes to do a complete rotation.  And just in case we get one of those hurricanes coming through, the wheel can withstand a category 3 hurricane.
