Ever since 2001, around Halloween time, Disneyland has transformed its Haunted Mansion into a scene straight out of a scene in Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas movie. With characters from the movie being added to the ride and other Nightmare Before Christmas decor, the makeover has become a smash hit with guests visiting the park around the holidays. This year, as part of Limited Time Magic, the makeover is getting some new additions to its Nightmare’ish makeover.
The Stretching Portrait Gallery will feature some kind of new effect featuring projection machines and stained glass and an appearance by Jack Skellington himself. Jack’s dog, Zero, will be featured in the Stretching Portrait Gallery as well. 13 other new surprises including skulls, snappy plants, and slinky ribbons will be featured throughout the ride for you to see.
“We started working on our 13th Haunted Mansion Holiday plans about a year ago,” said Brian Sandahl, who is the Senior Designer Show Development and Productions at Disneyland.
Look for this makeover to open up to guests on Friday, September 13.
