New Jersey FunTown Pier owner plans on rebuilding after devastating fire
How much can one area take? After two disasters devastated the FunTown Pier in New Jersey, the owner has no plans to give up on the popular Pier. After Hurricane Sandy in 2012, and now the recent fire which destroyed nearly all of the pier, the area has seen its fair share of natural disasters over the last few years.
The owner has filed a permit to extend the pier 300 feet and make the area bigger and better than before both disasters.
Pier owner William Majors said “Some rides we were going to keep and now they’re gone,” he said. “We’ll have to demolish what was left of the pier now.”
Majors was hoping to have the pier open by summer 2014, those plans are now put on hold as they continue to plan the next move in this tough time.
“We have to sit back for a week or two and see what we can do,” before going forward with any firm decisions, he said.
