Disney to stop using paper stock certificates and replace it with an electronic certificate

If you are wanting to get your hands on a paper Disney stock certificate, your time is running out.  Disney will be switching over to a digital version of the certificate after October 16.  The paper ones, which have been collectibles for quite some time, will be coming to an end to cut costs.

“We thought Disney would be one of the last ones to make that shift,” said Roman, who owns GiveAShare.com, a website that sells stock certificates.  Sales of the Disney stock certificates have jumped ten times since the announcement that they will be discontinued on Tuesday.

Instead of stock certificates, Disney is offering shareholders a “certificates of acquisition,” if the buyer asks for one.
