Disney is investigating a recent trademark filed by Deadmau5, a electronic music producer and performer.

Joel Zimmerman is the real name of the man behind the mouse mask, and Zimmerman applied for a trademark last year for a mouse head with black ears, black face and white eyes and mouth.

This trademark registration covers merchandise and other materials.

Disney opened an investigation due to the fact that this head sounds very similar to Mickey Mouse.  Disney could bring up the argument that Deadmau5 and his mouse head could be misleading and cause confusion in branding.

Disney has 90-days to investigate the claim and to file a notice of opposition.

What do you think?  Do you think you would get confused between Mickey Mouse and Deadmau5?
