A fire broke out earlier today around 2:45 PM on King Island’s indoor roller coaster, Flight of Fear.  18 people were treated for smoke exposure.  It was later found that there was no fire, rather an electrical motor had malfunctioned and was smoking heavily, but was not on fire.

The power was shut off to the motor and the building was ventilated.  Crews had left the scene by 3:45 PM.

No word on when the ride will re-open.
