After a lengthy refurbishment the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland will reopen to guests on September 27th as announced on the Disney Parks Blog. The refurbishment took about a year to complete, and during the refurbishment Disney refreshed many of the coral reefs bringing them back their original vibrant colors.
5 million gallons of water had to be drained from the lagoon to perform this refurbishment. The park worked with Orange County Water District to perform this task. Every time Disneyland has to empty a large body of water like the one in Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, the water is dumped into the OCWD’s Groundwater Replenishment System where it is then purified and cleaned and then returned to the Orange County’s underground water supply. The attraction is then refilled utilizing the same system.
So with a new(er) water supply and freshly painted corals, the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage reopens September 27.
