Disney is always testing new ways to make guest experiences the best they can possibly be.  One new thing that Disney is testing is allowing only Fastpass+ entry for a ride for the day.  This pretty much means no standby line at all for the day for the attraction.  Guests are required to book a Fastpass+ to access the attraction for that day.

Cast members will also be handing out paper Fastpass tickets to fill in the gaps throughout the day if it becomes slower.

Many sites are reporting that the test is going to run through Thursday.

While it may sound great to wait in a Fastpass+ only line, this leaves guests who travel over from another Disney park later in the day without access to the attraction unless they score one of the paper Fastpass tickets.  Also, this leaves a huge portion of the Toy Story Midway Mania queue empty to all other guests, which in returns pushes more people out into the midway making the parks even more crowded than they already are on any given day.

We will see how this test does with Toy Story Midway Mania and how Disney utilizes this in future attractions.  This may be a test to handle the MASSIVE crowds that will flood the new “Frozen” attraction at Epcot once it opens.
