Cirque du Soleil announces its plans for a Mexico theme park

If you are looking to travel to the first ever Cirque du Soleil theme park, it looks like you’re going to have to travel to Mexico to do so.  The company has announced plans for a new immersive “entertainment experience” in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico.

Details of the theme park were few and far between but we do know that Cirque is partnering with  Grupo Vidanta on the project.

“Grupo Vidanta is offering us an amazing sandbox in which we can unleash our creativity,” Cirque’s founder, Guy Laliberte, said.

Sections of the park include Village of the Sun and the Village of the Moon.  The park could also feature a water park, a nature park and an outdoor area that could house 3,000 to 5,000 guests for evening shows.

The park is also building a new show in Riviera Maya called “Joya.”  The new sdhow is being described as a “a theatrical and culinary experience” that will take guests into the world of the jungle and immerse them in incredible environments.

The theme park is scheduled to open in 2018.
