Disney has released new details about the upcoming Shanghai Disneyland Resort. New photos have been released of two themed hotels and a new shopping area similar to Disney Springs called Disneytown.
Shanghai Disneyland Hotel will be the centerpiece hotel for the new resort and features Art Nouveau-inspired architecture. Also coming to Shanghai Disneyland Resort is the Toy Story Hotel, which will transport guests into the world of one of Pixar’s most successful movies.
“We are excited to provide guests with a glimpse of the unique hotels and the vibrant retail, dining and entertainment district we are creating as a part of the new Shanghai Disney Resort,” said Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “These elements, like the entire park and resort area, are designed to deliver the quality, guest service and great storytelling of Disney, and created specifically with our Chinese guests in mind.”
Located near the two resorts will be Disneytown, a shopping, dining and entertainment complex. It will consist of a new theater called the Walt Disney Grand Theatre, which will host the debut of the Mandarin version of “THE LION KING.”
Near the Marketplace will bean area called Spice Alley. Spice Alley will feature Asian cuisines in a casual and romantic setting for guests.
For upscale shopping, guests can visit the Broadway Boulevard at Disneytown.
The entire area is surrounded by a lake for guests to take in the sites and sounds of the Shanghai Disneyland Resort.
