Iger confirms that upcoming 'Star Wars' attractions will be based up new films

With Star Wars Episode VII hitting theaters next year, one is to wonder when we will get the first juicy details about any new Star Wars attractions coming to the Disney Parks.

Well we now know thanks to Bob Iger, Disney CEO, that any new Star Wars attractions will be based not on the previous Star Wars films, rather they will take place in the timeframe of the new films being directed by J.J. Abrams.

“I didn’t want someone to say, ‘I just saw the movie and there’s nothing in that movie in this (attraction),” Iger added. “We waited to see what this film would have in it.”

Disney has been pretty hush-hush as to where the first Star Wars attractions will go, but many rumors post to Hollywood Studios getting the first one.  Another rumor that was floating around was that Toon Town at Disneyland would be closed to make way for a Star Wars Land.  Nothing has officially been announced yet by Disney, but with Star Wars Celebration happening next year in Anaheim, that may be a glimmer of hope as to when we can expect to see some sort of announcement.

What kind of ‘Star Wars’ themed attraction would you like to see?
