SeaWorld San Diego got a new addition today to their orca family, they welcomed the birth of their seventh Killer Whale.  The whale was born at 12:34 p.m. in Shamu Stadium to 10-year-old Kalia.

The whale weighed in at 300 to 350 pounds and is about 6 to 7 feet long.  The sex of the whale has yet to be determined.

Kalia had a 17 month pregnancy and was in labor for about an hour before delivering the calf.

The baby appears to be healthy and SeaWorld and animal experts will monitor the baby and mom over the next several weeks.

This is the first calf for Kalia, her mother, Kasatka produced four calves at the park.

The most recent birth before this one was Makani who was born in mid 2013.
