Could San Diego be the next major city to get in on the giant wheel craze?  If all goes according to plan, the giant wheel would feature museum exhibits and a light show to light up the giant wheel at night.

There are a total of three proposed giant wheels for the area around the USS Midway Museum that are competing for the right to build.

The area will feature the 400-foot wheel and a three-level, 420-space parking garage topped by a 30,000-square-foot pavilion.  SeaWorld would maintain and operate the area.

The giant wheel would feature 30 gondolas and would last approximately 30 minutes with a proposed admission fee of $25 to $30.  The entire complex would come with a price tag of around $200 million, funders of the project have not yet been identified.
