Disney Character Shadows stops shoppers in their tracks in New York mall

A new promotional gig by Disney stopped shoppers at the Westfield Sunrise Center in Massapequa, New York.

Unsuspecting shoppers walked by the “Umbra Penumbra Magic Shop” and watched as Disney character shadows interacted with them.  The shadows included Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck and more as their shadows interacted with customers.  Hidden cameras caught the whole thing making for some pretty funny moments.

The name of the magic shop if broken down is rather interesting as well.  The word umbra is the innermost and darkest part of a shadow, while the word penumbra means the partially shaded outer region of the shadow cast by an opaque object.  The number 1955 also pops up as the year the store opened, coincidentally that is the same year Disneyland opened.

Check out the video above and be prepared to see some pretty impressive dance moves by one Mickey Mouse.

The stunt was all part of the “Disney Side” promotion by the resort.
