During yesterdays quarterly report, the Chairman and chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company Bob Iger told Wall Street analysts that Disney Imagineers are hard at work with Star Wars plans for Disney parks around the globe.
Iger mentioned that “The plans are ambitious, so it’s going to take some time for them to be built and opened.”
He also went on to mention that specific plans are going to be announced late 2015. Disney purchased the rights to Star Wars back in 2012 for $4 billion.
Back in November with an interview with Bloomberg, Iger also mentioned that “Fairly soon, I’m sure we’ll be ready to go public with some specifics. But it’s safe to say that you’ll see a lot more ‘Star Wars’ at Disney and at Disney parks in the near future.”
When will Disney announce its Star Wars theme park details? No one knows for sure. But with this latest hint from Iger, late 2015 could be “Star Wars Celebration,” which will take place April 16-19 inside the Anaheim Convention Center. Or their is the D23 Expo, which is set for Aug. 14-16. Either one of these could be the grounds for a Star Wars based theme park attraction announcement.
