New expansion highlighted in red

New permits have been filed by Busch Gardens Tampa for whatever they have in store for 2016.

These new permits were filed to the Southwest Florida Water Management District and show a clear expansion coming to the Egypt section of the park with the main expansion being near King Tut’s tomb for a new 11,000 square foot expansion.

Here is an excerpt from the permit:

The proposed project calls for the removal of approx. 28,349 s.f. of existing concrete paving and the expansion of the existing museum building by approx. 11,605 s.f.. The project also proposes the construction of approx. 40,751 s.f. of new concrete walk and trench area.  This results in an approximate 12,402 s.f. impervious area increase from the existing condition.

What could Busch Gardens Tampa have in store with this expansion?  No one knows for sure.  I did some asking around and many rumors are swirling around from a new family Egypt themed coaster similar to Primeval Whirl at Animal Kingdom to some sort of an exhibit.  These are all just rumors and speculation as Busch Gardens has not yet officially announced their 2016 plans.

You can view the permit in its entirety here.
