Planet Hollywood has unveiled its new look that is is calling a “turn-of-the-20th-century observatory.”
The popular Hollywood memorabilia restaurant is receiving a makeover to flow with the new design of Disney Springs, formerly Downtown Disney.
“Disney is turning it into a turn-of-the-century Central Florida mining town, and the observatory was a feature at the time,” said Planet Hollywood International founder and chairman Robert Earl. “We’ve gone back to that look for Planet Hollywood.”
The new name will be the Planet Hollywood Observatory. The restaurant will also receive a new menu with help from some celebrity chefs, all of which is still in the works.
The Planet Hollywood sign will be turned into a water tower.
The retention pond that surrounded the restaurant has been filled in and the restaurant will be at the forefront of several springs that will wind through the area.
The makeover will retain the popular Hollywood props and memorabilia in the lobby and outside, but the inside is being made into a high-tech planetarium, featuring stars and planets on the ceiling of the restaurant.
