Disneyland is not the only California theme park celebrating a milestone this year.  Universal Studios Hollywood is turning the big 5-0, and the park has some special events and attractions lined up to celebrate this historic milestone.

The park announce today that a special limited time nighttime tram tour will be taking place with new, contemporary trams, including the installation of ultra-comfy cushioned seats.  The exterior of the trams will also receive a makeover with a new modern design and a  sleek logo design.

“For 50 years, Universal Studios Hollywood has given guests unprecedented access to the world’s most alluring business by inviting them to peek behind the velvet curtain and become part of the exciting movie-making process,” said Larry Kurzweil, President of Universal Studios Hollywood. “We are reimagining over 75 percent of our destination as we build upon our incredible success and expand our vision for the future, and we look forward to entertaining and inspiring guests for generations to come with what will ultimately be an entirely new theme park experience.”

The new “Nighttime Studio Tour” will feature over 20 locations along the famed Studio Tour route and will showcase an array of luminous onset lighting and special effects used in nighttime production.  Guests will have the opportunity to learn how filmmakers create the effect of daylight amid the black of night.  The new nighttime tour will also feature cameos by some of the stars that made it famous, including Marilyn Monroe, Norman Bates and Frankenstein.

The new limited time Nighttime Studio Tour will run weekends only beginning July 4 through Labor Day.

Also coming in 2015 to Universal Studios Hollywood is the new Springfield area featuring The Simpsons and action-packed “Fast & Furious—Supercharged” attraction.  And also don’t forget, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is coming to Universal Studios Hollywood in 2016!
