It was a rather interesting opening day for the Cyclone at Coney Island, the iconic wooden roller coaster.

The ride came to a sudden stop near the top of the lift hill forcing riders to be evacuated and having to walk down the lift hill.

An official statement from Luna Park via their Facebook page:

“Safety is the number one priority for our guests here at Luna Park,” Hoffman said. “Nobody was injured and those on the ride were safely evacuated and will be able to come ride again for free when it is open again.”

Park officials mentioned that no injuries were reported and that the ride had undergone vigorous testing several times before opening to the public.
