Disney announces few theme park details during shareholder meeting

Bob Iger sticking around at The Walt Disney Company through 2018

Disney held their shareholder meeting today and unfortunately did not give away too many theme park details that we already know.

Disney announced that Shanghai Disneyland will have an opening date of Spring 2016 and that The World of Avatar is still on schedule for a 2017 opening at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The big news came in the form of movie announcements.  The company announced that Walt Disney Animation is indeed working on “Frozen 2” with Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee returning to head the film, and a new Star Wars spin-off movie was announced called  Star Wars: Rogue One, which will make its debut in December 2016.

We also got a release date for Star Wars Episode VIII.  It will be hitting theaters on May 26th, 2017.  For those of you keeping track, that will give Disney three years total of Star Wars movies, 2015 (VII), 2016 (Rogue) and 2017 (VIII).
