If you were tuned into the Disney shareholder meeting this afternoon, you might have noticed Walt Disney Co. chairman and CEO Bob Iger mention a name change for Disney’s Hollywood Studios while taking questions about the parks name. Iger replied with “Have we announced that?” to the other shareholders.
If this is true, this will be the third time the park has received a name change. The park was originally called Disney’s MGM Studios and was changed in 2008 to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Iger also hinted that the park will be getting a “significant overhaul” over the coming years. Could this be a sign for Star Wars? Possibly.
The park has already begun major work on the park by removing the iconic Mickey Sorcerer hat at the end of Hollywood BLVD over the last several months. Other changes include the recent closure of the tram tour and the American Idol Experience, stirring up talk of what could possibly be replacing those attractions.
What will the new name be if it happens? Disney has not made an official announcement yet but the strong rumored name is Disney’s Hollywood Adventure. We will keep you posted.
