**UPDATE** The FHP has identified 24-year-old Tavon Watson as the driver of the Lamborghini that crashed into the guard rail, and 36-year-old Gary Terry of Davenport, was the passenger who died on scene. Watson hit the guard rail after “failing to maneuver the high-powered vehicle through the Exotic Driving Experience course.”
“On behalf of everyone in the organization, it is with a very heavy heart that we extend our deepest sympathies to those involved in today’s tragic accident in Orlando,” the Exotic Driving Experience said Sunday night in a statement.
One person was killed at the Exotic Driving Experience at Walt Disney World earlier Sunday afternoon when a driver of a Lamborghini lost control and hit a guard rail on the race track.
The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. at the Exotic Driving Experience, which takes place at the same location of the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Walt Disney World.
The driver was rushed to Celebration Hospital with minor injuries and the passenger of the Lamborghini died on the scene.
Walt Disney World announced back in February that the Richard Petty Driving Experience will be closing for good in late June to make way for parking improvements in the area of the Magic Kingdom parking lot. The exact closing date is targeted as June 28.
We will keep you updated as we hear more.
