Shooting incident reported at Universal Studios Hollywood
**UDPDATE** The apparent shooter had a girlfriend who worked at the park and had two restraining orders against him when he reportedly vandalized her car and the other one was issued inside the park about a week ago.
A deputy tried to talk the man out of it, but about 30 seconds into talking, the man pulled the trigger killing himself.
The incident happened in a secluded smoking area behind the Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem attraction.
**UPDATE** Here is an official statement from Universal Studios on the incident:
L.A. County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed there was a possible suicide on our property. We are working closely with law enforcement and corporate security on this ongoing investigation. The safety and security of our guests and employees are always of the utmost importance. The park remains open.
Reports are still coming in, but a man reportedly took his own life earlier today at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The incident happened at around 2:24 p.m. when Los Angeles Police Department was dispatched to the park and arrived at approximately 2:29. When they arrived they found a man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Universal Studios Hollywood acted swiftly and shut down several attractions in the area while the investigation continues.
No arrests or other injuries were reported.
