An explosion in Taiwan in a recreational water park in Taiwan resulted in the injuries of more than 200 guests, about 100 of them seriously.
The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday (8:30 a.m. ET) at Formosa Fun Coast water park in New Taipei. The fire was quickly brought under control and guests were forced to evacuate some of the injured via inner tube.
“We are very regretful (for) this accident that caused injuries to many victims,” Formosa Fun Coast said in a statement issued to the media.
Guests reported seeing a colored powder being blown through the air after the expolosion, no word on whehter or not this caused the explosion. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
The park was not open to the general public but was rather rented out by a separate company.
