Universal Studios Hollywood has announced new details this morning on when, where and what we can expect when their version of “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” opens early next year.
This new area has been under development for more than 5 years and will feature the signature centerpiece attraction “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” in hyper-realistic 3D-HD.
In this new attraction, guests will strap on Quidditch-inspired 3D goggles and then venture through journeys experienced by Harry and his friends, spiraling and pivoting 360-degrees along an elevated ride track.
Universal Studios Hollywood’s version of “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” will be the second one to feature 3D technology. The first one to receive the 3D treatment is the version over at Universal Studios Japan. The only one that is non-3D is the one at Universal Orlando Resort. No word if it will get the 3D treatment or not.
Universal Studios Hollywood will also receive their first outdoor family roller coaster with “Flight of the Hippogriff,” which will also make its debut when the new area opens next year.
There will also be all of your favorite Harry Potter themed shops including Honeydukes, Ollivanders, Owl Post, Zonko’s Joke Shop, Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment, Dervish and Banges, Gladrags Wizardwear and Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods.
Guests can already purchase Harry Potter themed goods at the Features Presentation shop, located just inside Universal Studios Hollywood’s main entry.
“The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal Studios Hollywood will officially open in the Spring of 2016.
