The Walt Disney Company announced a shift in Walt Disney Imagineering today as they named Bob Weis as the new President of Walt Disney Imagineering.

Weis has several projects under his belt including the creative lead on the expansion of Disney California Adventure and is currently working on Shanghai Disneyland.

He was also a huge part in the creation of Disney’s MGM Studios, now Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Weis also was the head of development for Tower of Terror, also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Weis will be replacing Bruce Vaughn, who had a variety of roles within Disney Imagineering, including the renovation of Spaceship Earth back in the late 2000’s and The World of Avatar coming to Animal Kingdom.  Vaughn will assist Weis during the transition then move on to other opportunities outside of Disney.
