A Minnesota development group and Sony Pictures Consumer Products announced that they are building a new indoor theme park and water park in Albertville, Minnesota.
The new theme park will feature attractions based on “Smurfs” and “Men in Black” and will also feature a hotel and indoor water park.
The “Mall of Entertainment” as it is being called is being targeted for families that cannot afford a vacation to Disneyland, Universal Studios or other major attractions.
The total size of the project will be 300,000 square feet on 18 acres of land just off Interstate 94 between the Twin Cities and St. Cloud, including the 50,000-square-foot indoor waterpark and the Marriott hotel.
The project is scheduled to break ground this summer and be completed some time in late 2017.
An official website has been setup for the mall, and can be found here.
