Busch Gardens has completed construction on Cobra’s Curse iconic snake king icon and a 70-foot vertical lift that will take riders within inches of its 4-ft. fangs.

It took dozens of artists to create the giant statue that stands 80 feet tall, with 4-foot-long fangs and 3-foot-wide eyes, the icon was constructed of nine stackable pieces with an internal steel spine and an outer shell composed of carved foam and fiberglass.

The other milestone completed was the 70-foot vertical lift.  This unique lift hill is not like your traditional roller coaster lift hill, you are hoisted 70 feet into the air vertically, like an elevator, where you come face-to-fang with the giant snake king statue.

Cobra’s Curse’s queue will feature a variety of real snakes, including Jameson’s mambas, Angolan pythons and rhinoceros and gaboon vipers.

Busch Gardens recently gave us an up close hard hat tour of the Cobra’s Curse construction area, check out our video here.
