SeaWorld phasing out Commerson’s dolphins at Aquatica Orlando
SeaWorld will be phasing out their Commerson’s dolphins at their Aquatica Orlando park. The company says that the remaining four at Aquatica are the only ones in captivity in the U.S.
Guests can view them at Aquatica during a ride on the lazy river, a ride on the waterslide that goes through their enclosure, or from above during feeding time. There is also an underwater viewing window for the dolphins near the entrance of the park.
SeaWorld will not be replacing them due to the fact that the company no longer takes animals from the wild.
Just last month, a Commerson’s dolphin passed away at the age of 33 at SeaWorld Orlando after traveling from SeaWorld San Diego along with two other companion dolphins.
