Fans over on the west coast got their first taste of Butterbeer today at Universal Studios Hollywood opened the gates of Hogsmeade to Potter fans for the first time today at around 2 PM PST.  This is also known as a “technical rehearsal,” where the park soft opens the area to the public before the grand opening.

Some of the differences from the Hogsmeade in Orlando and the Hollywood version include the location of Ollivanders within Hogsmeade, the outside queue of Hogwarts castle for the Forbidden Journey attraction is a different layout and the props inside Hogwarts queue are actual movie props.  The Flying Ford Anglia can be found in the queue for Forbidden Journey as well, which is located in the queue for Dragon Challenge at the Orlando version.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood also features all of your favorite shops, including Honeydukes, Ollivanders, Owl Post, Zonko’s Joke Shop, Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment, Dervish and Banges, Gladrags Wizardwear and Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods.  There are two new additions to Hogsmeade on the west coast, Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment, and Gladrags Wizardwear, which both can also be found at Universal Studios Japan’s version of the Wizarding World, not Orlando’s.

The main attraction. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is fairly similar to the Orlando version with the exception of 3D being added to the ride.

The Flying Hippogriff can also be found within Universal Studios Hollywood’s Wizarding World and is the parks first outdoor roller coaster.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood makes its official debut on April 7, 2016!
