Universal Studios Hollywood getting a Walking Dead attraction in 2016

**UPDATE** We have confirmation via The Walking Dead website about the upcoming Universal Studios Hollywood announcement that the attraction coming to the park IS indeed a Walking Dead attraction featuring “both animatronics and live performers.”

The sets of this new experience were all created in close contact with the shows production team, including executive producer and director Greg Nicotero.

View the announcement on the AMC website here.

The attraction is scheduled to open in summer 2016.

As we reported below, an official announcement will be made at WonderCon, so hopefully we will get more details then!

We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.

Special shoutout to Drew from OU for the discovery!

In some rather interesting news, Universal Studios Hollywood will be at WonderCon 2016 to unveil a new attraction coming to the park.

As seen in the above image, John Murdy (Creative Director for Halloween Horror Nights), Don Burgess (show producer), and Chris Williams (art director/production designer) will be on hand for the announcement.

Now what could this new attraction be? The biggest rumor at the moment is some kind of permanent Walking Dead attraction/haunt coming to the park.  I mean, you’re bringing in one of the head honchos of Halloween Horror Nights for the announcement, surely its got to be something horror themed, right?

Sally Corp. introduced a new Walking Dead dark ride last year at IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando, Florida, could we be seeing something like this coming to the park? Or something completely original, like some kind of walk-through experience?  This is all just speculation at this point until we get the official word from Universal what they are cooking up.

We will find out at WonderCon on Saturday, March 26 at 1:00pm – 2:00pm when the announcement is made.
