VIDEO: Busch Gardens Williamsburg Announces its First Wooden Roller Coaster Coming in 2017

Busch Gardens Williamsburg officially revealed what they’ve been teasing for months now on their YouTube channel.

The park announced that they will be getting a new wooden roller coaster in the spring of 2017.  It will be the first wooden roller coaster for Busch Gardens in Williamsburg and the eigth roller coaster in the park total.

With the 2016 season not even starting, everyone was wondering why Busch Gardens Williamsburg was teasing their 2017 attraction already.  The park announced that they announced the ride early is because they are letting the fans of Busch Gardens Williamsburg decide certain elements of the ride, including attraction details, theme elements and to help shape the marketing campaign.

The attraction’s theme will be based on a fanciful legend related to the exploration of North America by Vikings. The coaster will invite riders to join the battle between a band of invading Vikings, who have survived for generations looking for new territory, and the residents of the New France trappers’ village, who are fighting to protect their outpost.

The first part of this kicked off today where guests will be able to choose the name of the attraction.  The choices are Viking Raider, Battle Klash or InvadR.  You may vote once a day through April 1 at this site.

Some stats of the roller coaster include a 74 foot first drop, more than 2,100 feet of track, a top speed of 48 mph and will be located in the New France village of the park.
