Disney submitted plans today for a new luxury resort located on-site on an area on the north end of the Downtown Disney parking lot.

The 700-room resort will feature two pools, a fitness facility, concierge service and a kid’s play area.  A new parking structure will also be built to accommodate the loss of parking once the resort is built.  There will also be a rooftop restaurant to watch fireworks from.

“This new flagship hotel would create thousands of jobs and benefit Anaheim with more than $750 million in additional tax revenue over the next four decades, while helping the city reach its stated goal of attracting more high-end visitors,” Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown said.

The hotel is scheduled to begin construction in 2018 and be completed in 2021.  The average nightly rate is said to be around $450 a night.
