Hurricane Matthew – Theme Park Closures and information


**UPDATE (10-7 || 4:44 PM) SeaWorld Orlando will be opening at noon on Saturday
**UPDATE (10-7 || 3:40 PM) Universal Orlando Resort to return to normal operations Saturday

**UPDATE (10-7 || 2:43 PM) LEGOLAND Florida will be OPEN Saturday, Oct. 8 & Sunday, Oct. 9 from 10am-8pm. Brick or Treat will take place as scheduled both days.

**UPDATE (10-7 || 2:00 PM) Walt Disney World announced Friday afternoon Walt Disney World Theme Parks will open at 8 AM on Saturday and Disney Springs, Water Parks and Miniature Golf will open at 10 AM.

With Hurricane Matthew now heading towards the east coast of Florida, theme parks are beginning to announce any closures and early closings.

Here is what we know so far from the Orlando area parks:

  • WALT DISNEY WORLD – All 4 parks are closing at 5 on Thursday and will be closed on Friday.
  • UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT – Both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida are closing at 5 PM on Thursday and all day on Friday.
  • Wet N Wild is closing at 2 on Thursday and closing all day on Friday
  • Halloween Horror Nights is cancelled for both Thursday and Friday
  • SeaWorld Orlando – Closing early Thursday, shutting down completely Friday
  • Aquatica is closed both Thursday and Friday.
  • LEGOLAND Florida – LEGOLAND Florida Hotel will remain open and the park will remain open on Thursday with a possible early closure.  The park will be closed on Friday.
  • Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been cancelled for Thursday night.
  • Most ESPN events cancelled this weekend.
  • The Orlando Eye will be closed until “conditions improve & it is safe to begin operations again.”
  • SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium & Tussauds Orlando are currently opened and monitoring weather conditions with Hurricane Matthew.
  • Holy Land Experience is closed (noon) and will be closed all day Friday.
  • Spooky Empire has been CANCELLED entirely

At this time, BOTH Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are closed Thursday and Friday.

Mandatory evacuations are in order for Fort Wilderness at Walt Disney World.  Guests will be relocated to other resorts.

Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex will also be closed on both Thursday and Friday.
