Universal Orlando officially opened Volcano Bay earlier this morning in a celebration of tribal drumming, singing, chanting and even a few surprises inside the Volcano Bay wave pool. Bill Davis, president of Universal Orlando, was on hand for the grand opening celebration.
Volcano Bay will be open from 10 AM – 8 PM on its opening day. The water park is the replacement for the former Wet N’ Wild Orlando water park, which closed its doors for good on December 31 and is in the process of being demolished.
The park features a variety of slides and attractions for the whole family to enjoy, including the groundbreaking new Krakatau Aqua Coaster, which features magnetic technology that blasts riders uphill and into the center of the Krakatau volcano. Volcano Bay also features the new Tapu Tapu wearable, which promises to eliminate long lines at the park by allowing guests to reserve their spot in line for a water slide. Tapu Tapu also features a variety of other uses, including opening lockers, making cash-free payments and more.
