Busch Gardens Williamsburg announced today that they will be getting a new VR-based attraction in 2018 called Battle For Eire – Action VR Ride.

The new attraction will center around a fierce fairy warrior named Addie, who will lead riders on an unforgettable adventure through her homeland, Ireland.

A host of characters, some heroic and some villainous, join Addie in a thrilling story fit for the whole family. Addie’s goal is to rescue the Heart of Eire, which represents the magic of Ireland, but she needs a little help from the park’s guests.

The attraction will be located in the Ireland village section of the park and will feature a motion-based theater simulator mixed in with state-of-the-art 360-degree virtual reality headsets. Riders will be completely immersed within the story and be able to see, hear and feel actions happening all around them, both through the virtual reality headsets and within the motions of the simulator.

“We are taking guests on an incredible journey,” said Larry Giles, Vice President of Engineering at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. “The movement of the simulator combined with interactive special effects from the VR headsets will deliver an exciting, high-energy experience, with a great storyline.”

A standard version of the video will be available to view for those interested in a more “traditional” experience.
