‘Hocus Pocus’ reboot coming to Disney Channel

Hocus Pocus sequel not happening. Instead, we are getting a reboot.

Disney officially announced today that they will be rebooting the Halloween hit film “Hocus Pocus” as a TV movie.

The film will reportedly be aired on the Disney Channel and will not feature the original cast, such as Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. This new version will feature a new cast and a new director.

The original “Hocus Pocus” was originally going to be a straight-to-tv film, but Disney decided to release it in theaters, where the movie grossed just over $39 million at the box office. Disney still airs the film frequently around the Halloween season.

Disney also features the film on a variety of theme park merchandise around the Halloween season and a popular stage show called Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom.
