Harry Potter’s version of Pokémon Go is coming to a smartphone near you

Universal Orlando announces the new Harry Potter expansion - Opening 2014 3

It’s been nearly five years since Niantic released Ingress, their first augmented reality game. Then the company took a huge leap forward and released Pokémon Go, which was even more massive of a project. Now the company is diving into the Wizarding World and releasing a Harry Potter augmented reality game called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

In this new game, players will finally get the chance to experience J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World outside of the gates of a Universal theme park.  Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighborhoods and cities to discover & fight legendary beasts and team up with others to take down powerful enemies.

Niantic is partnering with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and WB Games San Francisco’s development team to bring this new experience to life.

More details will be released about Harry Potter: Wizards Unite in 2018.
