VIDEO – Walt Disney World Monorail door stays open while in motion

We’ve all heard the popular quote while boarding the Walt Disney World Monorail, “Please stand clear of the door”, “Por favor, mantengase alejado de las puertas.”

Well that safety spiel brought on a whole new meaning as new video has surfaced of what appears to be Monorail Red with one of its doors stuck open. There were no injuries reported due to the door being open, but that begs the question, how did something like this even happen?

The Mark VI monorail line at Walt Disney World are no spring chickens. The system made its debut back in 1989. The system has had its faults but has recently fallen into a state of disrepair. Several photos pop up on social media frequently of panels missing, water leaking and more. And we are now seeing videos of doors open while the Monorail is in motion, which should NOT happen due to some sort of safety fault system.

There was talk several months back about Siemens offering to replace the dated Mark VI system when they were in talks with Disney to renew their sponsorship at Epcot, but that fell through.

Hopefully Disney takes a close look at these videos and does something about this, because this is unacceptable for guests safety.
