Dania Beach Boomers closes, Hurricane and surrounding area to be demolished

Dania Beach Beach’s Boomers fate has been decided.  The park has officially closed, and with it, one of the few wooden coasters remaining in Florida, the Hurricane.

The Hurricane has been closed at the park since 2011.  The entertainment center featuring  miniature golf, kiddie rides, bumper boats, batting cages, go-karts, kiddie roller coasters, laser tag closed its doors this past weekend.

The park apparently made attempts to donate the coaster to charity as a tax write off, but no one was apparently interested.

The property that Boomers and the Hurricane stand on has been sold to developers who plan to turn it into “Dania Live.”  The area will feature retail stores, restaurants and at least one hotel.

The demolition of the coaster and the surrounding area is scheduled to begin in May.
