Gatlinburg area attractions brace for the worst as wildfires spread


The historic area of downtown Gatlinburg and surrounding area have been evacuated due to the approaching wildfires spreading throughout the area.

Here is what we know so far about the local area attractions in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg:

  • **UPDATE** Dollywood sent out a tweet earlier today mentioning that the park is closed and resort access is available on a limited basis. Dollywood – No reports of any damage but the DreamMore Resort and park have been evacuated and shut down until further notice.
  • **UPDATE** Ripley’s has confirmed via their Facebook page that all of the animals are safe. Ripley’s Aquarium – Employees were forced to evacuate and leave the animals behind.  Gatlinburg is still under a mandatory evacuation at this time so no updates have been received on the status of the 1,500 animals inside.
  • **UPDATE** Mysterious Mansion has shared this update on their Facebook page – “So we’ve been getting conflicting reports. The news and eyewitnesses last night are saying the mansion was destroyed. But now we have been getting reports that it still stands. We have not been able to get into town to see with our own eyes because of the evacuations. So Please stay tuned within the next few days. And we will let you all know as soon as we can into town. Thank you all for the kind words and support during this tragic situation.”  So it seems the fate of the Mysterious Mansion is still unknown. | Mysterious Mansion in Gatlinburg, Tennessee has confirmed via their website and Facebook page that the building was destroyed in the wildfires.
