Lin Manuel Miranda reportedly working on first ever Latina Princess Disney movie
There’s a very big possibility that Disney may be in talks of their first ever Latina princess movie, and of course, none other than Lin-Manuel Miranda might be at the helm. In an interview with Page Six, it was actually Lin’s father, Luis A. Miranda, Jr. who said: “He is talking to Disney about a sequel to ‘Moana,’ but the movie would be about a Latina princess.”
Shut the front door, that sounds amazing! Disney has been slammed in the past by their lack of diversity when it comes to the Princesses, and the only other Latina princess is Princess Elena, who has never made it to the big screen, but instead on Disney Channel and Disney Junior in her show “Elena and the Secret of Avalor.”
According to Page Six, Disney has not confirmed this to be true or false.
If you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know who Lin Manuel Miranda is, he was the music co-write on “Moana,” as well as creator of the Broadway musical “Hamilton” where he is currently reprising the lead role in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
I, personally, would LOVE to see diversity in the Disney universe, and I can’t think of anyone better than Mr. Miranda to grace us with his musical and creative talent, and give Disney a bit more multicultural magic.
