Cirque du Soleil announced today that they are filing for bankruptcy protection after closing all of their shows and laying off 95% of their workforce in March.
According to sources, the company is “seeking a debt restructuring protection under its home country’s Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA).”
Cirque is reportedly $900 million in debt and has “no specified strategy for when, how or even if all of its shows will reopen on the Strip.” No word from Disney on the all-new “Drawn To Life show that is all but set to debut at Disney Springs this year.
