There were several theme park attractions around the world that were almost, if not ready to open before COVID-19 closed many of the theme parks, one of them being of course, Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan, the first Universal park to open a Nintendo themed land.
Universal Studios Japan has officially announced that they are delaying the opening of the new land, stating:
Regarding “SUPER NINTENDO WORLD” which had been announced to be opened before Tokyo Olympics, we will announce its grand opening timing in this fall, after carefully considering the alignment with the conditions of capacity expansion in moving forward.
Super Nintendo World will be an expansive, highly themed and immersive land featuring Nintendo’s legendary worlds, characters and adventures. Guests will feel as if they are playing inside their favorite Nintendo video games – in real life. It will be filled with incredibly fun rides, shops, a restaurant and interactive gameplay throughout the land. And there will be something for everyone, regardless of age or gaming experience.
