Today was the first official day for guests visiting EPCOT, and those that made their rounds around the park noticed that something was missing from the EPCOT Experience located in the Odyssey Pavilion at EPCOT.
For those of you that don’t know what the Epcot Experience is, it is a temporary attraction built by Disney to showcase the future of EPCOT. It features a presentation showcasing all of the new and exciting experiences coming to EPCOT over the coming years. Two of those things were the future overhaul of Spaceship Earth and the recently announced Mary Poppins attraction.
Disney has since removed both the Spaceship Earth overhaul segment and the Mary Poppins part. The company issued the following statement:
“As with most businesses during this period, we are further evaluating long-term project plans. The decision was made to postpone development of the ‘Mary Poppins’-inspired attraction and Spaceship Earth at this time.”
So it seems that the projects are on the back-burner for now. We will keep you informed if we hear anymore details.
