We finally have confirmation that Jared Leto is indeed starring in the third installment of the ‘TRON’ movie franchise. The actor took to Twitter to confirm his involvement:
I’m struck with such gratitude for the opportunity to bring this movie to life, especially as both the original video game and the film affected me so deeply as a young child. The fact that I get to be a part of this new chapter is mind-blowing. pic.twitter.com/94MN6tT8Bs

What was interesting was this tweet actually had a second part, that mentioned a little bit more about his involvement. Below is the original tweet. Note the title ‘TRON: ARES’. Which Leto later deleted the tweet and replaced ‘TRON: ARES’ with just ‘TRON’. But not before we got a screenshot of it. Could this be the title of the third installment? The Hollywood Reporter reported all the way back in 2017 that Leto’s character would be named ‘Ares’, which is a character we’ve never seen before in the first ‘TRON’ or ‘TRON: Legacy’.
It was revealed today that Director Garth Davis has officially signed on to direct the third film, which will reportedly NOT be a sequel to the first two TRON films starring Jeff Bridges.
